Job Summary: />A Paramedic in the Emergency Department is responsible for direct and indirect patient care while under the direction of a Registered Nurse and based on the Scope of Practice guideline. /> />Education: />Required: />Graduate of an accredited EMT-Paramedic training program. De-escalation training. /> />Preferred: />An Associate's degree is recommended. Bachelor of Science degree is preferred. /> />Experience: />Required: />A minimum of one year of continuous experience on an Advanced Life Support Ground Unit as an EMT-P. Experience must reflect general knowledge in pre-hospital medicine principles and practice skills. /> />Preferred: />One year emergency services experience in a hospital setting /> />Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration />Required: />Current licensure privileges to practice as a paramedic in the state of employment. /> />BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintain ongoing thereafter. /> />ACLS required within 6 months and maintain ongoing thereafter PALS required within 6 months and maintain ongoing thereafter /> />NIHSS required prior to completion of departmental orientation and maintain ongoing thereafter /> />Preferred: />BTLS/PHTLS certified />Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic (NREMT-P)
