Position Title: Quality Engineer 2
Location : Warren, MI
Shift: 1st shift (7am-3:30pm) or 2nd shift (3pm-11:30pm); Candidate will be assigned a shift after offer acceptance.
Number of Openings: 3
Overtime Estimate: Occasional overtime as needed
Remote Possibility: No
Assignment Duration: 50 weeks
Travel Requirements : No
Driving Requirement: Yes (Worker will drive a company vehicle as part of the job function)

Job Description
As a Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring quality and resolving issues within vehicle programs. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying and resolving issues, collaborating with engineering teams, and ensuring that all defects are contained and corrected in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Issue Identification & Resolution: Perform early issue identification, tracking, and resolution to support segment leadership.
  • Communication: Provide clear and timely communication to Quality, Operations, and Program management regarding quality issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to address issues and ensure timely containment to meet build and validation schedules.
  • Validation Support: Collaborate with Validation owners to ensure defects are contained and corrected, safeguarding validation activities.
  • Problem Solving: Lead problem-solving activities for both launch and current product issues.
  • Quality Deployment: Deploy quality work according to planned development timelines.
  • Status Updates: Gather and communicate critical status updates for Quality reviews.
  • Facilitation: Facilitate Quality Review meetings, ensuring the integrity of presentation materials.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and teach UAW-represented Hourly individuals and Program Teams in using Quality tracking and resolution systems.
  • System Usage: Understand and work within the Global Manufacturing System (Client) Business Plan Deployment (BPD) framework and company IT systems, including EMS (Engineering Materials System).
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks within strict time frames.

Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical).
  • Experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience, including project management experience.

Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to track issues to closure.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Experience with Bill of Materials and interpreting assembly/component drawings.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Comfortable with facilitating meetings and presenting solutions.

  • Team Interaction: Work closely with a team of 10 to 15 individuals.
  • Production Volume: Low volume production environment.
  • Flexibility: Shifts may be subject to change. Flex hours and extensions may be possible based on performance and project needs.
