POSITION SUMMARY

Administrative
- Collaborates with the Principal to determine short and long-term plans for facilities.
- Manages the daily oversight of all facility operations and project management as directed by the Principal, to support and execute procedures, policies, goals and objectives of the school district.
- Works with the Principal to develop a facilities budget.
- Monitors work orders to ensure prioritization of assignments. Reviews submissions and completed work and closes out completed procedures.
- Develops and maintains supply, material and equipment inventories for facilities/grounds management, and sign for deliveries when necessary.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals as needed.
- Inspects buildings, when appropriate, for cleanliness and maintenance issues and discusses conditions with the Principal to determine next steps.
- Keeps accurate and up-to-date facility records, including the maintenance of fire alarms and other safety measures.
- Build and maintain quality relationships with staff, school administrators and vendors.
- Ensures all maintenance/custodial employees have the appropriate training required.
- Works with the Principal in the screening and hiring of maintenance/custodial employees.
- Manages in various personnel actions, including staffing, work assignments/schedules, and annual performance evaluations.
- Approves leave time for custodial staff and arranges for substitutions when necessary.
- Maintains M.S.D.S. files and maintenance schedules.
- Manages and responds to fire and other alarm notifications, and works with local police and/or fire departments in a timely manner to ensure safety protocols are implemented.
- Checks conditions of building daily.
- Submits water samples for testing
- Coordinates and/or manages snow removal and ice control as necessary.
- Ensures communications, cameras, alarms and other safety systems are working appropriately and manages repairs when needed.
- Understands federal, state and local code laws, regulations and policies and ensure compliance.
- Coordinates the establishment and administration of schedules and procedures for the ongoing maintenance/custodial care of school buildings.
- Supports preventative maintenance programs for all school-related equipment.
- Maintains and repairs mechanical equipment (per manufactures instructions), furniture, doors, locks, lighting, pumps and other equipment.
- Maintains grounds (i.e. mowing, raking, sweeping, irrigation).
- Works with other custodial staff to set up/tear down and clean cafeteria and other rooms as needed.
- Ensures availability to support staff with emergencies and mishaps/accidents as needed.
