Quality Assurance Specialist

UNA LOCATION: Portage Industries, Inc. - Ravenna, OH
SUMMARY: Ensures products meet customer established quality standards. Monitors processes and inspects produced goods and services as required. Proposes measures and process improvements to enhance operations, ensure reliability of systems, and minimize downtime, errors, and defects. Implement and improve Quality System for the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Preparing and implementing quality assurance policies and procedures
• Performing routine inspections and quality tests
• Identifying and resolving workflow and production issues
• Ensuring that standards and safety regulations are observed
• Addressing and discussing issues and proposed solutions with superiors
• Documenting quality assurance activities and creating audit reports
• Making recommendations for improvement
• Creating training materials and operating manuals

QUALIFICATIONS and CHARACTERISTICS:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 4-year degree and/or certification (ie. CQE) are preferred
• Minimum of three years of experience in quality assurance or similar role
• Working knowledge of tools, technology, methods, and concepts of quality assurance
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work well in a team environment
• Good experience with Microsoft Office suite
• Solid decision-making skills and knowledge of relevant regulatory standards
• Excellent data collection and strong statistical analysis skill level
• Keen eye for detail

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand, walk the production floor, and move objects. Must be able to stoop, stretch, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods. Must be able to sit at a computer occasionally. Eyesight capabilities must be sufficient to perform these functions. Hearing must be adequate to perform these functions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid driver’s license.
• Pass criminal background check
• Pass pre-employment drug screen
• Pass pre-employment physical exam
• Complete all DODD training requirements
• Complete CPR, AED, and first aid training

FLSA: Position can be either hourly or salaried exempt.

WORK SCHEDULE: 40 Hours Per Week, Flexible as scheduled

PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 90 Days
