Responsibilities

Assists in promoting school readiness of children ages 0-3 by providing responsive caregiving, effective teaching and an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and children's skill growth aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outlook Framework, including for children with disabilities.

This to include engaging parents, caregivers, and other family members in the child's learning and development by developing a strength based relationship that focuses on the positive parent/caregiver and child relationship. Some of your responsibilities will include the following:

Assistant teacher actively participates in classroom team meetings at least one time per week for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Assistant teacher assists in the toileting of children including diapering.
Prepares the classroom for the day's activities and cleans after the children leave.
Assistant teacher encourages and supports children's interests and goals.
Assistant teacher demonstrates respect for families' values, strengths, and cultures by welcoming their contributions and participation, encouraging children to talk about their families, and designing learning experiences accordingly.
Implements the agency's active supervision policy and classroom zoning plan.
Responsible for the sanitation of tables and toys.
