DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Previously known as the Interfaith Hospitality Network, Family Promise of Hunterdon County (FPHC) began as a volunteer-driven residential program in 1990. Since then, we have expanded our programs to include homeless prevention, rapid re-housing, and programs to meet the unique needs of low-income residents of Hunterdon County.
Position Summary
The Development Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s fundraising and communications activities and for serving as one of the organization’s key external affairs and outreach representatives to various audiences. The Development Manager is responsible for organization’s financial goals, forecasting future income and gathering feedback from donors. Development Manager will also work closely with public relations professionals to attract attention to FPHC and host events that raise awareness of the organization’s goals.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Working with Executive Director, Program Supervisor and Financial Manager to establish and achieve annual FPH fundraising goals and strategy
- Identifying, researching, and stewarding foundation, corporate and individual donors; soliciting prospects, independently as appropriate
- Responsibility for grant administration, including developing grant proposals, proper use of funds in compliance with grant requirements and prompt filing of progress reports
- Identifying, researching, providing data on, and participating in solicitations of major gift funding prospects
- Planning and executing fundraising events, working with contracted event coordinators, managing event sponsorships and donations, and reporting
- Coordinating with community groups who are fundraising on behalf of FPH to ensure that our agency is accurately and effectively represented
- Conducting Annual Appeal: drafting letter, coordinating lists with Staff, tracking, processing, and acknowledging gifts and pledges
- Preparing development reports for monthly Board meetings
- Participating in budgeting and finance activities to determine needs and goals
- Fielding donor inquiries and working with staff to manage gift acceptance and acknowledgement procedures
- Overseeing the agency database system with specific emphasis on tracking donations and maintaining donor files
- Designing and producing support materials, such as newsletters, flyers, event posters and other public relations materials
- Managing the agency website to ensure that it is accurate and timely and provides a strong representation of our agency to the community
- Managing agency communications, including website, e-mail newsletters, marketing material, etc.
- Working with Executive Director and/or the Program Supervisor to achieve agency goals
- Update and maintain profiles on Charity Navigator and other charity-watch websites
- Build library of client stories for use in marketing and fundraising
Required Skills and Qualifications
BA (required), MA (a plus)
Five-plus years’ experience in development and fundraising
Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
Knowledge of Charityproud, WordPress, and Donor-based software a plus
Salary Range and Hours
This position is currently part-time with some nights and weekends at a rate up to $50,000 annually for 30 hours/week.
