What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Assessor position at Family Sunshine Center?
Duties:
1. Serve as a domestic abuse consultant to MCDHR staff.
2. Assess families for domestic violence in child abuse cases.
3. Provide in-office and in-home case-management services to family members involved with DHR and who are experiencing family violence.
4. Collaborate with MCDHR staff to determine and implement intervention strategies.
5. Attend and engage in ISP meetings, presenting assessment findings, recommendations, and proposing solutions.
6. Actively participate in other MCDHR meetings that are pertinent to stated job responsibilities, including but not limited to program meetings, unit meetings, and Quality Assurance (QA) /Death Review Board at MCDHR.
7. Utilize administrative skills necessary to implement and complete Family Assessment Reports filing, and other clerical duties within the scope of the role.
8. Review domestic violence assessment and work with protective service consultants, MCDHR, etc. to develop a network of communication and collaboration of services for DV clients that addresses gaps in services.
9. Educate DHR workers on the dynamics of DV and FSC’s services at new employee orientation and individual department outreach.
10. Collect, compile, and prepare monthly service provision reports.
11. Submit complete and accurate client data, statistical reports, and evaluations, on a timely basis, and comply with other reporting requirements as required by agency policies and procedures.
12. Attend supervision on a consistent basis, as well as participating in staff development and training, departmental meetings, and professional development opportunities at FSC.
13. Other duties as assigned by MCDHR and/or FSC.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in social services or related field; Master’s Degree in Social Work preferred.
· Previous experience working with domestic violence victims required.

· Ability to maintain poise and self-control in critical and high intensity crisis situations.
· Ability to communicate with and be sensitive to the needs of people of various backgrounds.
· Knowledge of trauma-informed best practices.

· Ability to determine and prioritize appropriate victim services.
· Exhibits excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
· Knowledge of current social and economic problems and the way these problems affect families and individuals.
· Ability to identify and use community resources.
· Ability to focus and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
· Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies and to be cooperative in managing referrals.
· Makes good use of time and acts professionally and responsibly in all work areas.
· Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong computer skills in current Microsoft applications to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PPT.
Travel Requirements:
Local travel as needed for training, travel to clients’ homes or meetings; reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and liability insurance coverage is required.
