What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher 3rd Class position at Farmers Electric Cooperative?
Farmers Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for a team-oriented person who would enjoy working as part of a Dispatch team, in an automated environment, offering 24-hour dispatch service to our members while meeting the challenges of a large, growing electric cooperative.
Responsibilities include working in emergency situations with speed and accuracy, dispatching utility crews to service calls, repairs and irregularities, monitoring radio communications for Dispatch response, maintaining outage records and various logs, as well as performing customer service, data entry and switchboard functions. Work hours vary depending on need and includes overtime, holidays, and weekends. The current shift structure is Monday – Friday 4 pm – Midnight. Training for the position will occur across all shift times before starting the shift mentioned above. Hours are subject to change as Cooperative needs change. The ability to work overtime to ensure 24/7 coverage is necessary.
Qualified applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong PC skills including spreadsheet and word processing software, ability to work calmly and effectively in crisis situations, work well with the general public, possess strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and be able to work in varying work shifts and overtime. Previous electric utility experience and being bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred, but not required.
