Founded in 1912, the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) is a national nonprofit organization representing the 70 medical boards of the United States and its territories. The FSMB leads by promoting excellence in medical practice, licensure, and regulation as the national resource and voice on behalf of state medical and osteopathic boards in their protection of the public. Since its founding, the FSMB has grown in the range of its services to the state medical boards charged with protecting the public health and interests in their respective states.
