Summary of The Position :
The Systems Programmer is responsible for performing highly complex (senior-level) computer programming work using current Microsoft development tools and technologies to analyze, design, code, test, and debug complex computer applications and administrative systems; prepare flowcharts and systems diagrams; and assist with the preparation of user and system documentation. Work is performed under limited supervision with considerable latitude to use initiative and independent judgment within established division policies and procedures.
Essential Functions :
- Collaborates and coordinates with others to design and implement clinical and non-clinical data collection systems.
- Develops systems for organizing data to analyze, identify, and report data and trends.
- Responsible for designing, testing, and validating data systems and procedures.
- Manages issues of cross-project consistency by reviewing database protocols and identifying standard case report elements to meet objectives.
- Responsible for projects that have been contracted with contract research organizations, as well as internal projects.
- Extracts data and creates SAS data sets for analysis.
- Coordinates all medical and medication coding for clinical studies.
- Develops and generates ad hoc reports and regular data sets or report information for end-users and analysts using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts.
- Integrates data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements.
- Develop customized study-specific reports for end-users using system tools, database queries, and scripts.
- Integrates data from various sources, including laboratory results, to produce requested or required data elements.
- Maintains and audits data, providing status and activity reports as needed.
- Maintains databases, record-keeping systems, and master files for protocols in conjunction with research staff.
- Work with data scientists to validate designed functionality.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Position Requirements
Education : A bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in Computer Sciences, Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Information Management, or a related field is required.
Preferred Job-related Experience : At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in database design and database programming for clinical research programs is preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications : Demonstrated proficiency with analytical tools such as MS SQL, MS Access and SAS is preferred.
Preferences : In-depth knowledge of developmental methodologies, practices, principles, methodologies and techniques of computer programming and system analysis, including .NET architecture, ASP .NET and C#.NET, and SQL Server 2008 or higher (including SQL Servier Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, and SQL Server Management Studio).
Special Position Requirements : Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
