GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a practicing, born-again Christian of like faith to First Baptist Church Mocksville.
  • Must have a heart for people, good listening skills, patient with all who come into contact with our church. A positive, loving approach toward all is necessary.
  • Must be a good communicator with good organizational skills.
  • Must be a team-oriented person who is comfortable asking for help and recruiting volunteers.
  • Must be comfortable with all production-related technologies (sound boards, lighting, computers, cameras, live streaming, podcasts, church production software, etc.).

FUNCTION

Responsible for management of all technical presentation operations related to all worship services and other church and public events held at church facilities.

Equipment that is the responsibility of the A/V Coordinator includes, but is not limited to: audio system components, video system components, stereo systems, PA systems, cameras, projectors, screens, and computers used for audio/visual activities, on-stage musical equipment which is the property of the church (i.e keyboards, drums, drum sets, guitars, percussion instruments, etc.)

Software that is the responsibility of the A/V Coordinator includes, but is not limited to: church production software (Proclaim), live streaming software (OBS Studio, Restream), podcast creation (Spotify), social media (Facebook, Youtube).

SUPERVISION

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Senior Pastor and in accordance with established procedures.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

The A/V Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, development, scheduling and supervision of all volunteer members of the A/V team. Maintain updated A/V policies and procedures. Currently, worship services require four (4) volunteers for Early Service and two (2) for Late Service:

Early Service:

1. Soundboard

2. Computer control for slides, scriptures, lyrics, and live stream

3. Lighting control

4. Camera control

Late Service:

1. Soundboard

2. Computer control for slides and scriptures

RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate stage setup, conversion, breakdown and reset as necessary prior to and following all worship services, practices and other church or public events held at church facilities (such as Christmas programs, Easter programs, VBS and revivals). Also responsible for coordination of A/V equipment transport, setup and breakdown for church events held onsite and offsite, outdoor and indoor locations.

Coordinate the audio mixing, and sound check and live stream (as required) operations for all Worship services and events.

Ensure live streaming of service for social media, recording for podcasts and other recordings as necessary.

Be responsive in communicating with church staff, church office and ministry leaders for A/V needs for special events or special needs for worship services, funerals, Vacation Bible School, concerts, public events, etc.

Responsible for being a church liaison with community members to assess needs and help coordinate usage of all A/V equipment and staffing.

Monitor the security and storage of the church inventory of A/V, presentation, and on-stage musical equipment.

The A/V Coordinator must establish secure storage locations and supervise equipment transportation to secure locations when not in use.

Annually evaluate current A/V assets and future needs to establish equipment and maintenance budget requirements for upcoming year and present recommendation to Stewardship Committee yearly. Coordinate A/V equipment and supply purchases with the church Financial Secretary.

HOURS

Average hours of involvement per service or event:

Sunday:

Early worship service 7:00 a.m.- 9:45 a.m.

Late worship service 10:45 a.m.- 12:15 p.m.

Other events: As coordinated with church office and event leaders

Compensation/benefits

Yearly performance evaluation will be conducted in the fall by the Personnel Committee. Recommendations for salary adjustments will be submitted to the Stewardship Committee.

The Stewardship Committee is responsible for creating the yearly church budget, including salary adjustments. The church budget is presented to the church and voted on in November at a church business meeting. Salary adjustments will only be considered during the yearly review process.

This is a part-time position with no benefits.
