GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Nursing Facilitator and Training Coordinator is primarily responsible for teaching clinical skills, reinforcing students' clinical skills during open lab hours, and assisting with testing/evaluating students' clinical competencies. In addition, the facilitator will collaborate with and provide support for the Simulation Center and Nursing Lab Manager.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with orientation of nursing faculty and students to address general lab requirements and processes.
- Prepares all course and instructional lab supplies for all sophomore through senior level labs.
- Facilitates teaching of nursing skills for sophomore through senior level students.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, simulation program staff, and other stakeholders to develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate simulation-based education. Activities will include learning objectives, case scenarios, program planning, and evaluation tools.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders to achieve consistent, integrated application of simulation-based education and events consistent with the mission, strategic priorities and objectives of Fitchburg State Nursing Program including, but not limited to, excellent patient care, enhanced safety, and improved outcome metrics across the system.
- Ensure appropriate fidelity and realism of simulation events including moulage, equipment, supplies, rooms & furniture to meet simulation-based learning objectives and to adhere to INACSL standards of best practice.
- Responsible to work with simulation tech and staff to set-up equipment, facilitate scenario, breakdown and maintain equipment.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the laboratory and inventory/storage areas according to established standards and procedures;
- Assists with restocking supplies and inventory needs; count and track missing equipment:
- Lifting, moving and processing boxes of supplies;
- Safely moving heavy 70-90 pounds' manikins in/out of beds with assistance and other equipment to other locations as needed;
- Cleaning lab equipment such as washing manikins and physical environment;
- Preparing incident reports related to safety issues or injuries in the labs;
- Provide technical lab assistance to faculty and students; available to troubleshoot equipment operation and other needs for lab instruction.
- Collaborates in review and revisions to the laboratory resource manual for student learning.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution preferred
- Current RN licensure.
- Previous experience in a nursing education program preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in mentoring students in a structured lab setting to ensure quality and safety.
- Skill in the use of medical and technological equipment.
- Ability with planning, prioritizing and organizing clinical laboratory needs as aligned with the nursing curriculum.
- Interacts with students, faculty and staff in a professional and collegial manner.
- Demonstrates independent judgment and management skills.
- Ability to perform above duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to satisfactorily pass the Criminal Offender Record Information/Sexual Offender Registry Information(CORI/SORI).
Additional Information:
This is a full-time permanent 10 month benefited, exempt, professional APA position. The successful candidate will have 2 months off annually. The annual salary range for this position is $70K - $72K based on 10 months.
