Fast-growing Northeast Cleveland, Ohio-based wholesale distributor of specialty and technical papers is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Vice President of Sales to join our Executive Leadership Team. Position Summary:
As a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth within the specialty paper market, building relationships with key customers and shaping the strategic direction of Flexlink. This position involves direct sales to deeply understand our product lines, customers, and company culture as well as hiring, training, and mentoring a high-performing sales team. You will have a significant voice in shaping the company’s strategy, growth trajectory, and operating decisions. This role involves domestic travel, approximately 50% of the time, to cultivate and obtain relationships with new potential customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership:
- Engage in direct sales to build a deep understanding of our product lines, customer base, and market dynamics
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
- Negotiate and close sales at large complex accounts.
- Research the necessary markets and cultivate relationships with new potential customers, including all facets and positions at the customer including, but not limited to executive management, engineering, purchasing and production.
Team Building and Management:
- Recruit, develop and mentor a strategic sales team to meet long-term business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture.
Strategic Leadership:
- Actively contribute as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, shaping the company’s growth strategy and operational direction.
- Leverage the EOS system to drive collaboration, accountability, and alignment across all functions.
- Design, develop and execute strategic account strategies at key accounts.
Marketing and Customer Engagement:
- Oversee marketing initiatives, including the development of high-quality blogs, white papers, and other materials that demonstrate technical and marketing expertise.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs.
- Deliver impactful company presentations to potential clients.
- Utilize CRM tools and social media to maintain a strong presence across target markets.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Provide regular reports and feedback on sales performance, market trends, and customer interaction.
- Design and execute strategic account strategies for key clients.
Skill Requirements:
- Proven track record of success in sales, preferably within a related industry
- Experience managing and developing teams, with a focus on collaborative leadership.
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Confidence in cold-calling and following up with clients diligently.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel nationwide approximately 50% of the time, with a focus on building and maintaining client relationships.
- Familiarity with EOS or similar systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with CRM software, Hubspot.
- Familiarity with PowerPoint and other presentation platforms.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong math and computational skills.
- Seeks continuous improvement and possesses an innate desire to solve problems.
- Ability to recognize, understand and communicate basic packaging and other technical information in related industry.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years sales experience.
- Experience overseeing staff or cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant sales training and certifications would be a plus.
