The job involves overseeing and participating in the establishment, implementation, and review of school health services, policies, and procedures. Key responsibilities include managing health-related data, coordinating health emergency plans, and serving on committees like the Psych Readmission and Disciplinary Review Boards. The role also covers disease prevention, health leadership, staff training on health and safety regulations, and coordination with physicians and students insurance benefits. Additional duties include managing nursing staff, budgeting for the infirmary, purchasing supplies, and ensuring compliance with health protocols such as CPR and Hepatitis B vaccinations for staff. The position also involves consulting on student health concerns and scheduling health-related events.
Educational Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a minimum of a current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- At least five years of nursing experience desired
Work Schedule:
- The school year begins prior to the intake of pre-season football and ends with graduation.
- The Head Nurse will review Health Forms and Immunization Records during closed sessions before registration days and is responsible for preparing the Infirmary for check-in days.
