What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Consultant position at Gem State Paper & Supply Company?
Summary: Assists assigned Account Executive in daily activities to increase sales; works with customers to increase sales by performing the following duties:
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Assists customers with purchasing and/or returning of merchandise
- Answers questions concerning price and proper use of merchandise
- Calculates sales discounts to determine sell price
- Processes customer orders and prints pick slips and/or invoices
- Obtains information on non-stock items and completes special order forms
- Updates customers on order statuses as needed
- Completes company forms for proper handling of merchandise
- Assists assigned Account Executive
- Works in the field with Account Executive when needed
- Calls customers when Account Executive is on vacation
- Assists Account Manager with maintaining customer pricing records
- Prepares and/or obtains samples for customers as needed
- Prepares quotes, letters, and/or other miscellaneous information as needed
- Reviews backorder report daily and makes arrangements for delivery when needed
- Maintains Safety Data Sheets for chemicals and distributes them to customers as needed
- Updates sales literature and distributes to customers as needed
- Attends sales/training meetings as determined by supervisor
- Answers incoming calls at the receptionist desk as scheduled
- Makes occasional deliveries to customers
- Continually calls existing and new customers to grow sales
- Stocks/faces shelves, counters, and displays with merchandise
- Sets up displays to promote merchandise as needed for specials, closeouts, etc.
- Cleans shelves, entry doors, counters, cabinets, etc.
- Runs totals on cash register and credit card machine daily
- Files invoice copies daily
- Other duties may be assigned as needed
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or experience: High school diploma or equivalent; and one to two years related experience and/or training.
Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such chemical labels, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Computer skills: Must be able to type and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and is occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
