- Build and maintain expertise in college advising and student success
- Conduct visits to schools, colleges, community events, and other appropriate venues to expose students to the post-high school opportunities that are available to them
- Assist students and families in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Note: colleges and career schools use the FAFSA form to determine how much financial aid students are eligible to receive, which could include grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans.
- Assist students in completing college applications
- Assist students in completing scholarship applications
- Assist students in applying to trade schools, military, or other post-secondary educational opportunities
- Plan and host FAFSA nights to complete FAFSA requirements
- Track student and family engagement, conferences, and contacts
- Update scholarship information on the district webpage
- Plan and facilitate a Decision Day event to celebrate FAFSA completion and college acceptance
- Track effectiveness of each strategy
- Provide inspirational and educational opportunities to underclassmen to foster interest in post-secondary education
- Provide opportunities to help students understand the importance and implications of savings accounts, investments, and loans
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience working with high school students, preferably in a college access or advising role
- Strong knowledge of the college admissions process, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities
