A Day in the Life of a Recruitment Specialist
As a Recruitment Specialist, each day is a blend of outreach, relationship-building, and event coordination to expand Girl Scout membership. Mornings might start with strategizing recruitment efforts, managing leads, and connecting with schools, faith-based institutions, and community organizations to schedule presentations or events. Midday could involve attending back-to-school nights, hosting parent information sessions, or meeting with volunteers to support troop formation. Afternoons are spent preparing materials, coordinating logistics, and tracking recruitment data to measure progress toward goals. Evenings and weekends often include attending community events, networking with partners, and supporting new troop leaders to ensure a seamless onboarding experience. Throughout it all, the role requires adaptability, enthusiasm, and a commitment to making Girl Scouting accessible and welcoming to all.
Job Accountabilities & Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Lead Generation Design and execute short- and long-term strategies to recruit new members and volunteers in targeted areas.
Community Engagement & Partnerships : Increase awareness to positively impact membership growth by engaging in the community, collaborating with schools, faith-based institutions, and businesses.
Troop & Volunteer Support : Support the ongoing development of volunteers and leaders.
Event Hosting : Organize and host recruitment and retention events to meet membership goals and increase community involvement.
Inclusion & Diversity : Ensure that Girl Scouting remains inclusive and open to all girls and adults. Promote the values of inclusion and diversity in all outreach activities.
Requirements : Qualifications
Education & Experience :
1-3 years of proven success in membership, recruitment, or sales.
Excellent public speaking and presentation abilities.
Associate’s degree
Computer proficiency including but not limited to : Microsoft Office Suite, customer management systems (Salesforce experience preferred), and social media.
Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse people and communities.
Demonstrated ability to navigate and manage difficult conversations with professionalism, empathy, and effective communication skills.
Skills :
A commitment and passion for the Girl Scout mission and an ability to effectively promote and communicate the mission and vision of Girl Scouts to internal and external stakeholders
Willingness to work flexible hours, including regularly working evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel extensively through all jurisdictions of the Girl Scouts of Utah Council to attend meetings, events, training, etc.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
Goal-oriented and results-driven, with experience working in diverse environments.
Capable of receiving and implementing feedback effectively.
Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective interdepartmental relationships.
Proven ability to manage multiple and competing projects concurrently in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
Collaborative, transparent, and inclusive work approach.
Highly organized, ability to multitask, handle pressure, and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, take initiative, and self-manage the workload.
Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred, but not required
Have daily access to dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, compliance with the council’s policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council’s business auto insurance carrier.
