Senior Accountant (Sarasota, FL or Tampa, FL)
The Senior Account role can reside in either our Sarasota, FL or Tampa, FL offices. The Senior Accountant will perform a variety of general accounting and financial reporting tasks which require a very good understanding of GAAP. This individual must have a good working knowledge of AP, AR, GL, account reconciliations, financial reporting, intercompany accounting and program/job costing. This challenging role requires excellent knowledge of accounting concepts and the adherence to established policies and procedures while exercising creativity to assess problems and recommend solutions. This position will report to the Financial Controller.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains general ledger data for assigned area of responsibility according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and organizational policies
- Participates in preparation and review of audit materials and work papers as required for internal and external audits
- Performs account reconciliations
- Prepares monthly accruals
- Assists team with year-end reporting
- Assists team with monthly close and associated monthly reporting
- Maintain fixed asset list within the ERP system
- Review and reconcile corporate credit card transactions
- Investigate and recommend resolutions for GL account discrepancies
- Assist team with inventory account reconciliations
- Identifies areas of improvement, process improvement, and cost savings
- Maintains working knowledge of applicable government and commercial contracts terminology and clauses
- Assists other departments with resolving issues and establishing procedures relating to Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system
- Performs cost analysis to be used for strategic decision making.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, and Outlook and in using Accounting related computer systems to setup queries, enter data and process information
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- Self-motivated and focused individual with strong attention to detail and high ethical standards
- Highly organized
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to work independently or as part of team
- Proactive in identifying and solving complex problems
- Strong organizational skills and analytical / logical approach
- Professional demeanor with the ability to work with customers, vendors, and company stakeholders bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4 years’ experience in accounting is required
- Experience with DCAA/DCMA audits is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system highly desired
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookups and similar)
- International Accounting experience is a plus
- Multi-Company Accounting experience is a plus
- Occasional travel may be required
- Comfortable working with Mac OS

- Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly
- Frequently work in on projects that require deadlines
Working Conditions
- Work will be mostly completed in a climate-controlled office environment.
