What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer: Goodwill Volunteer Opportunity: Southside GED Classroom Aide position at Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania?
Where there's a Goodwill, there's a way.
Goodwill is all about finding a way to make a difference in your community, no matter how big or small. It’s a way to empower yourself and others and to work together to create positive change.
When you see one of our stores in your neighborhood, you can be sure that good things are happening. Goodwill is more than just a store - we’re a community of passionate, dedicated individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of people in our communities.
At Goodwill Southwestern Pennsylvania, we believe that empowered individuals create thriving communities. As a leading social and human service organization in the region, we help thousands of individuals find jobs and provide education and workforce development services to those with barriers to employment.
Join us in strengthening your community and building a better world, one person at a time.

Goodwill of Southwestern PA is looking for individuals who enjoy helping others to make an impact in the adult learning community by assisting instructors in the classroom at our new Opportunity Center on the Southside at 2700 East Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
If you have experience teaching basic reading and or basic math skills, please reach out and we can talk more! If you don't have experience with this but are comfortable teaching someone these basic skills and believe you have the patience to work with an adult learner who struggles with these skills, please reach out. We are seeking someone who can come to our Opportunity Center on the Southside from 1 00-3 30PM on Mondays and Wednesdays.
To help one of these students, you'd first meet with me briefly, either in person or on Zoom, to go over details of our program and what you would do, fill out a volunteer application, complete a free and quick PA criminal background check, and then we'd help you to learn about what students need to know for their exam. Once you are all prepped, you would be introduced to the student and ready to start working with them. Support is always available from me, the Volunteer Coordinator, and from our adult education instructors.
Six-month commitment minimum please. Our volunteers do take time off here and there for trips they take, vacation, holidays, etc, but overall, 5 hours per week on average is required. Thank you for considering this opportunity!
This would be a great opportunity for college students!!
Those interested can contact Ashley Reilly, Education Volunteer Coordinator by text at 412-498-0412 or by email at ashley.reilly@goodwillswpa.org
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by VolunteerMatch, in partnership with LinkedIn for Good.
