How you will make an impact?
The Legal Assistant assists his or her assigned attorney(s) in all aspects of case management, from case inception to settlement or trial. The incumbent will assist attorney(s) by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact checking; and trial preparation. It is expressly understood and practiced that all duties associated with this position are performed under the direct supervision of his or her assigned attorney(s) and immediate supervisor.
What will you do?
- Maintain client communication on a regular basis.
- Gather and analyze intake information, as well as relevant documents associated with new files and enter pertinent information into case management software.
- Initiate claims, verify coverage and maintain communication with insurance adjusters to provide case status updates.
- Prepare documents and correspondence such as letters of representation, demand letters, billing inquiries, etc.
- Collect documentation of all damages sustained such as medical records, bills and loss of wages.
- Update case details on a regular basis by utilizing case management software.
- Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Assists in drafting legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files.
- Assists attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.
- Develops and maintains Attorney calendars.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
