The organization was originally fo...unded in 1949 as the Community Welfare Foundation and became a public foundation in 1992. Today, the Community Foundation holds assets totaling more than $140 million and over 800 different charitable funds, large and small, established by families, nonprofit agencies and businesses. The organization awards over $8 million each year to nearly 400 nonprofit organizations in Linn County and beyond in the areas of education, human services, health, arts and culture, community development, and the environment.
