Medical Assistant, Non-Certified - Float Team

The Medical Assistant, under direction of the Clinical Director of RHCs, collects patient information and provides direct patient care in the clinic setting. The Medical Assistant is responsible for complete and accurate data collection and recording, completion of routine and delegated direct care activities, and communicating and collaborating with the provider to prioritize workload so that patient outcomes are achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs selected patient care and administrative duties and assists the provider as part of the clinical care team.
• Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence and determines needed services per practice protocol.
• Confers with provider regarding any incomplete patient tests, consults or other incomplete orders prior to patient visit.
• Prepares patients for examination and treatment, escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and taking histories and vital signs.
• Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
• Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment.
• Completes point of care testing and phlebotomy.
• Assists with scheduling tests and treatments, and processing referrals to other providers.
• Creates and maintains patient records and other information as needed.

Job Qualification Requirements:

Education: High School Graduate/GED Required

Licensure/Certification: CPR certification required within 1 month of hire. Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required.

Experience:  Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments, common safety hazards and precautions and treatment room procedures helpful.  Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
