Waste Water Treatment/Hazardous Materials Technician

Location: Palo Alto, CA Schedule: Full-time, M-F
Position Summary: Manage and operate the wastewater treatment system in our plating facility. This role ensures compliance with environmental regulations, maintains proper chemical balances, and performs routine system maintenance to support safe and efficient wastewater treatment processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment, including pH adjustment systems, filtration units, and chemical dosing pumps.
- Collect and analyze water samples to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Adjust chemical feed rates to maintain optimal treatment efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of treatment processes, test results, and system performance.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of wastewater treatment systems.
- Safely handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials.
- Assist with environmental audits and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant environmental and safety regulations.
- Train employees on wastewater management best practices as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in wastewater treatment or environmental science preferred.
- Previous experience in industrial wastewater treatment, preferably in a metal plating or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, chemical dosing, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot mechanical and chemical treatment systems.
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours or overtime as needed
- Shop experience a plus
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, twist and maintain a stationary position for prolonged periods of time
- Complete repetitive movements with hands, arms, wrists, shoulders, as necessary
- Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
- Lift, move, or transport items up to 50 pounds without assistance or injury
- Specific visual abilities to examine parts
