Kennel Assistant

Job Description:

Happy Dog Academy is seeking a responsible and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in the care and well-being of the dogs staying with us. This position is ideal for someone passionate about animals and looking to contribute to creating a safe and positive environment for dogs undergoing training.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dog Care: Feed, water, and ensure proper care of dogs in the kennel, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
• Cleaning: Maintain a clean and sanitary environment by cleaning dog kennels, bedding, food and water dishes, and other equipment.
• Daily Activities: Assist with dog walking, exercise, and playtime to ensure dogs are mentally and physically stimulated.
• Monitoring Behavior: Keep a close eye on the dogs’ behavior, noting any concerns or health issues and reporting them to senior staff or trainers.
• Administrative Support: Assist with checking in dogs, updating records, and maintaining accurate logs for each dog’s stay.
• Assisting Trainers: Help trainers with tasks as needed, including preparing dogs for training sessions, taking dogs outside, and managing group training sessions when necessary.
• Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients regarding their dogs’ progress and well-being, as needed.

Requirements:

• Passion for working with dogs and a genuine love for animals.
• Previous experience working with dogs in a kennel or similar environment is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to handle dogs of various breeds and sizes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Good physical stamina, as the role requires standing, walking, and some lifting.
