Job Description
The main function of a research engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical research engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints.
Job Responsibilities:
- Research, design, and develop Electrification products [batteries, chargers, electric motors, generators, electronic controls] and related devices.
- Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine feasibility to complete projects.
- Investigate process and/or design inefficiencies to promote customer, dealer and Enterprise value.
Skills:
- Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
- Team player and detail oriented.
- Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
- Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
Position’s Contributions to Work Group
- Supports the battery, charger and related electronics lifecycle consultants to create New Product aftermarket deliverables, e.g., spare parts.

Typical Day
- Audits new designs for conformance with aftermarket requirements, e.g., Client branding, and then provides feedback to engineering teams.
Interaction with team:
- Significant collaboration with lifecycle consultants and other E ES engineering teams.
Work environment:
- Traditional office.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 2-4 years experience.
- If no degree or Associate Degree, open to interview with 5-7 years of experience but MUST have worked for Client.
- Not open to Master’s Degree.
