What are the responsibilities and job description for the Provider DO & MD position at Health Ministries Clinic?
Reports to: Medical Director
Work Hours: Work hours are typically 40 hours w/in one work week; with Tuesday and Thursday working 8 to 7pm. (36 hours patient care / four hours documentation).
Credentials and Experience:
- Graduate from an approved medical school
- Unrestricted Kansas License (MD or DO)
- FTCA coverage or private professional malpractice insurance obtainable
- Current Federal DEA registration
- Current ACLS certification
- Medicaid provider number
- Ability to relate to the diverse population regardless of ethnic, religious, or economic status.
- Strong time management skills
- Exemplifies strong professional ethics.
- Strong work ethic
Position Summary:
Provider patient care as part of the integrated medical team in an integrated primary care/behavioral health setting. Works alongside behavioral health and nursing team members to manage patients' health and motivate lifestyle changes to optimize health. Bases patient care on evidence-based practices. Participates in provider meetings and staff training.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary function is to provide comprehensive, compassionate quality integrated health care to patients of Health Ministries Clinic. With broad latitude for independent judgement and initiative, the Physician is an integral part of the medical team at the facility. Providers are expected to take a leading role in the delivery of health care services to patients; in addition to being responsible for the supervision of the advanced practitioner staff.
- Provides compassionate, holistic care educating patients on health issues.
- Provides primary care for patients.
- Maintains accurate and detailed medical records about each patient, including observations during examinations.
- Complies with all laws applicable to primary care, including HIPAA, and adheres to clinical initiatives.
- Prescribes medication or therapy, when necessary, incompliance with HMC policies.
- Recommend lifestyle changes as appropriate to improve quality of life.
- Explains all medical procedures thoroughly
- Explains test results and provides patients with plan of care details.
- Consults with other doctors about each patient's specific needs
- May manage patients in hospital settings as needed or communicate with hospitalists about their care.
- Refers patients to specialists when indicated.
- Participate in HMC's QA/QI and risk management activities.
