Purpose Statement on Using the Environment
An emphasis on outdoor learning by using the environment with which we live and learn by utilizing both structured and unstructured outdoor learning spaces; we intend to be an expeditionary learning school where students work together on a specific project throughout the school year to achieve a common goal. HLCS will be a smaller community school with smaller class sizes which will lead to more individualized attention and care.
Job Overview:
The Special Education Paraprofessional assists Special Education and General Education teachers in the delivery of educational and behavioral interventions for Special Education students; also assists the Special Education student in the general education classrooms with the goal of supporting school wide educational goals. Due to the varied and individual needs of each student, Special Education Paraprofessional may provide a variety of support and should be flexible in adjusting to student needs. This may include providing personal care assistance, implementing behavior management strategies, providing one-to-one instruction and/or support.
Requirements:
● High School diploma required.
● Candidates must have a minimum of 60 college credits or have passed the Para Pro Test. HLCSwill support the process.
● Flexibility to work with different situations, one-to-one, small and large groups, multiple settings.
● Effective communication with teachers, as well as students with disabilities and their families.
● Demonstrating unwavering belief in the potential and abilities of every student
