What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Collections Specialist position at Helping Hands Hawaii?
This positions is accountable for managing and collecting the maximum amount of overdue funds from customers for the Bilingual Access Line (BAL) department.
Availability:
- Part Time - 19 hours per week.
- Flexible Schedule during primary business hours Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Stratify collection activities to maximize cash receipts.
- Contact customers regarding overdue accounts and determine reasons for non-payment.
- maintain aging and document accurate records about the customer payment status and daily collections activity/efforts.
- Research account disputes and billing discrepancies and preps credits & debit memos accordingly.
- Perform account/payment reconciliations.
- Responds to telephone inquiries and assists in solving questions related to the status of customers accounts.
- Ensures strict confidentiality of financial records.
- Review, verify, & time finish all Encounter Forms received via mail, fax, and/or in person for payroll processing and vendor billings.
- Deals professionally with vendor's and interpreter's questions and inquiries on billings, charges, and payments.
- Assists in preparing audit work documents. Maintain and update job manual.
- Assist the Program Manager as needed. Attends all Bilingual Access Line (BAL) meetings as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of clerical and/or claims processing experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to type accurately.
- Capable of working under pressure and with a variety of people.
- Detail oriented, organized, ability to multi-tasks and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of EZ Claim Software.
- Working knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Working knowledge of WellCare (`Ohana), HMSA (HHIN), and United Healthcare (Optum) online processing.
- At least one (1) year of customer service experience.
- Prior office work experience.
