Position Summary

Summer Day Camp Assistants provide support for staff and coordinate daily and weekly camp activities. Summer Day Camp Assistant executes the mission and vision of Hempfield Township and Summer Day Camp.

The Department of Parks & Recreation is focused on providing essential community, recreation, and leisure services to the residents of Hempfield Township. Camp provides families in Hempfield Township and surrounding communities safe and affordable summer enrichment experiences while embodying the values of safety, enrichment and exploration, community awareness, social and personal identity development, and entertainment and fun.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Camp Assistant provides support for camp staff, leads Camp Crew & supports individual camper needs.

• Follow the policies and procedures set forth in staff manual relating to safety and human relations
• Ensure the health and safety of campers at all times and report issues to staff as necessary
• Support person for multiple activities such as field games, projects, field trips etc.
• Lead Camp Crew
• Coordinate Extended care
• Assist with Camp operations
• Assist with individual camper needs
• Create lesson plans for weekly activities that will be executed by Head Counselors and Summer Day Camp Staff
