Overview
Staffing Coordinator
Requirements:
- Prepares and manages the staffing schedule for the nursing department.
- Serves as a central contact for communication of schedule changes and other pertinent information regarding the nursing staff.
- Contacts staff to provide coverage for staff call offs.
- Fills in on the floor to fill staffing vacancies as needed.
- Works with payroll to ensure that employees of the nursing department are paid appropriately and timely.
- Works with DON in an administrative role.
- Monitors employee hours to minimize overtime.
- Enters schedules/schedule changes into the payroll system.
- Works with payroll to manage time entry to ensure proper and timely pay.
- Works with management to maximize efficiencies in scheduling for the department.
- Educates current and new staff on scheduling, communication methods and processes. For example, requesting time off, schedule changes, picking up shifts, holiday scheduling, etc.
- Provides additional support to the hospital as directed.
Requirements:
- Prior experience scheduling/staffing experience required
- Must be proficient with following technologies:
- Computer and various software packages
- Calculator/10-key
- Telephone and paging systems
- Copy and Fax Machine
- Postage machine
- Policies, procedures, plans, and program manuals
