What are the responsibilities and job description for the ACCOUNTANT - Full Time position at Hillsboro Area Hospital Inc?
The accountant assists the Accounting Manager in financial reporting, data analysis and special projects. This position will be involved in various financial analysis and reporting responsibilities in the areas of accounting, reimbursement, managed care, purchasing, business office, health information management, accounts payable, payroll and electronic data processing. The accountant may oversee highly confidential data due to the nature of the position. Normally scheduled on days Monday through Friday
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital.
- Review and perform duties related to the hospital’s accounts payable and payroll functions.
- Maintain Hillsboro Area Hospital, Hillsboro Area Health Services, Hillsboro Area Health Foundation, and Hillsboro Area Health System 1099 vendor files and 1099 quarterly audits.
- Assist with analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitably, performance against budget and other matter bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization and specific operations.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Assist in the budget preparation annually.
- Assist in staff training related to finance, operation, statistics, budgeting, software applications and other related matters.
- Preparation of monthly supporting schedules to support the annual audit work papers, offline billing, and assistance in preparing annual audit and cost report work papers.
- Preparation of database reports as requested.
- Assist with the Hillsboro Area Health Foundation books and records, including recording monthly transactions, balancing bank statement and financial statement preparation monthly and annual preparation of audit work papers.
- Periodic audits of accounts receivable allowance
- Assistance in the maintenance of the Hospital Charge master
- Organizes and prioritizes assigned work and schedules time to accommodate work demands and turn-around time requirements.
- Review and recommendation of internal controls.
- Maintain orderly condition of assigned work area.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and physical related information
- Is knowledgeable of general hospital and department specific policies and procedures.
- Design and/or redesign Hospital Forms and Pamphlets as requested.
- Other duties may be assigned and are subject to change with or without prior notice.

Requirements:EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- B.S.B.A required with emphasis on accounting and/or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the accounting or financial field required, including extensive PC experience, preferable in a health care setting.
- Detailed knowledge of personal computer and or mainframe computer hardware and software and accounting principles required.
- Knowledge of healthcare operations preferred, including third party and managed care reimbursement
