Kitchen Steward

Job Summary
The Kitchen Steward plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food service areas in a hospitality setting. This position is essential for ensuring that all kitchen operations run smoothly, supporting chefs and kitchen staff by providing a clean and safe environment for food preparation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service and hospitality, with an understanding of food handling practices.

Duties

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to health and safety regulations.
• Assist in food preparation tasks as needed, including chopping vegetables and preparing ingredients.
• Support culinary staff during banquet services by ensuring all necessary items are readily available.
• Dispose of waste properly and maintain recycling practices within the kitchen.
• Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and report any shortages to management.
• Adhere to all food safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a hotel or culinary environment is preferred but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of food handling practices and sanitation standards is essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights as required in the kitchen setting.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Evening shift
• Morning shift
