The Sarasota, FL office of Homes by Towne, www.homesbytowne.com, a national builder with a local commitment is seeking a Purchasing Agent to complement our team.

The Purchasing Agent coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services while maintaining costs and meeting quality standards for the Company by performing the following duties:
- Perform material takeoffs and update as needed in Newstar
- If takeoffs have been adjusted, adjust any open purchase orders that might be affected
- Send new plans out to bid and review for scope
- Ensure all options on marketing plans have been added in Newstar and priced accurately
- Enter new pricing in Newstar
- Prepare master takeoff reports and update as needed
- Review lot specific options and make sure they tie with the contract
- Prepare purchase orders for lots that are in permitting
- Update lot specific purchase orders for lumber, trim and interior doors prior to order being delivered on site
- Prepare appliance specs for each lot and order appliances per lot and track
- Field verify deliveries as needed
- Other duties and projects as assigned by the Purchasing Manager
Required experience and education:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University preferred; minimum of three years related experience in a similar position required, preferably with a new home builder
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general construction documents
- Must have knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Effectively and professionally communicate (in oral and written form) with internal and external customers
