POSITION: Billing Assistant
REPORTS TO: Electronic Health Record and Billing Manager
POSITION SUPERVISED: None
SALARY: $20 Hourly
STATUS: Part Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
DRIVING REQUIRED: No
SUMMARY STATEMENT OF POSITION:
The Billing Assistant under the direction of the Electronic Health Record and Billing Manager (EHR/BM) is responsible for 1) denial management of claims to include the finding, reviewing, analyzing, resolving, rebilling and where possible preventing denials/rejections. 2) posting of and reconciliation of payments 3) verifying and updating insurance coverage and eligibility 4) producing assigned billings and reports within the electronic health record.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
· Daily review of any claims not fully paid and determine the corrective action, including sending for reconsideration, rebilling and recommending any corrective adjustments to the EHR/BM.
· Complete semi-monthly review of unpaid claims with no payer response.
· Supply billing reports of denial trends to EHR/BM.
· Provide weekly documentation on the progress and resolution of previously denied claims.
· Research client insurance and cost share amounts to update in the EHR.
· Retrieve insurance payment explanation of benefits (EOBs) and client payments to post into the EHR.
· Generate monthly statements for clients with commercial insurance.
· Assist with creating internal billing reports and analyzing EHR revenue integrity.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma.
· One year of experience or education in medical or behavioral health billing.
· One year of experience utilizing medical billing software and EHR systems.
· One year experience with data entry.
· Available at least 20 hours per wee
