Position Summary:
Will complete work as assigned to ensure an easily accessible, streamlined and efficient scheduling process for physician’s patients and all referring entities while assuring efficient, effective and high-quality process for all departments receiving scheduling input with agreed upon service levels. Three main areas of work assignments are incorporated this position – initial patient contact for scheduling procedures, pre-authorization/certification and follow up patient contact for verifications and reminders. Competencies in all three areas are expected but work assignment may be designated to one particular area of focus.
Work assignments will consist of but not be limited to the following duties.

• Collects demographic information for new and established patients and load into automated registration/scheduling system.
• Gathers medical information utilizing intake format for electronic medical record.
• Provides estimates to Self-pay patients regarding cost of services.
• Completes registration using automated scheduling system
• Utilize automated scheduling system for many types of appointments.
• Completes intake form using the electronic medical record system.
• Advise patient of possible financial obligation and insurance requirements.
• Provide general information about the hospital and its services.
• Retrieves calls from patients and/or physicians offices regarding cancellations, primary care physician and new patients.
• Completes confirmation calls will patients prior to scheduled appointments.
• Enters incoming managed care referral information.
• Contacts insurance companies and obtains preauthorization (pre-certification) approval on necessary procedures and enters codes into electronic system.

Experience:
One (1) year clerical in medical office setting.

Successful candidates will be subject to criminal background and drug screens.
