Work Schedule and Other Information
This position is primarily based at the Nansemond Treatment Plant, which serves as the home office. Employees in this role enjoy flexible work hours; however, it is essential to coordinate these hours with the other inspector to maintain effective communication and ensure consistency across inspections. Additionally, all schedules must be confirmed with the Condition Assessment Superintendent. This coordination guarantees that all ongoing projects and the requirements of HRSD (Hampton Roads Sanitation District), as well as contractors, are adequately addressed.
The responsibilities of this position encompass oversight of all HRSD assets, which include a diverse range of facilities and systems located in several regions. Specifically, the inspector will oversee assets in Small Communities, West Point, North Shore, South Shore, Surry, and Onancock. This pivotal role requires a thorough understanding of each area’s unique infrastructure and the ability to adapt to different project demands effectively. Typical tasks may involve conducting assessments, documenting findings, and collaborating with team members to uphold HRSD's standards of service and operational excellence.

Job Requirements
Education
- NACE Coating Inspector level I or higher. Must obtain NACE Coating Inspector within one (1) year of hire.
- High school diploma or GED
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in general contracting and/or construction
- Minimum 1 years of experience in estimating and managing project budgets and/or CIP’s
- Knowledge of proper coating and concrete inspection procedures, including the operation of specialized test and inspection equipment
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
- NACE Coating Inspector Level I or higher. Must obtain NACE Coating Inspector within one (1) year of hire.
- Valid Driver’s License from state of residence
- NACE Coating Inspector Level II
