What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Nurse position at Human Services Center?
This person will report to the Director of Nursing or in her absence Medical Director.
The person in this position will work with the Medical Director and staff psychiatrists/ tele-psychiatrists and/or CRNP or PA-C in conducting medication checks, medication groups, and psychoeducational groups.
The person in this position will work with a varied client population including children, adolescents and adults in a variety of programs including out-patient psychiatric clinic services, partial hospitalization, family based, and psychiatric rehabilitation services.
This person may schedule clients for injections and administer those injections. He/she may also provide coverage for the other psychiatric nurses when necessary in the medical division.
This person will collect data through clinical observations of clients phone calls and record that data in electronic medical records.
This person will attend staff meetings; participate in conference and in-service training as required.
This person will assume responsibility for linking assigned clients with appropriate services as indicated in treatment planning.
This person will participate in development of treatment plans as part of the treatment team.
This person will notify Director of Nursing or in her absence Assistant Director of Nursing for arranging psychiatric nursing coverage during vacations, absences, etc.
Obtains managed care prior authorizations as required to fulfill prescriptions.
This person will also perform other duties as may be requested or required by the Executive Director and/or the Medical Director or Director of Clinical Services.
REQUIREMENTS:
1 Licensed Registered Nurse
2. Graduation from an approved school of professional nursing and completion of a six month psychiatric nurse internship or one year of professional psychiatric nursing experience.
3. Knowledge of pharmacology.
4. Ability to administer therapeutic prescriptions.
5. Ability to observe, record, and report indicative signs and symptoms of consumer’s mental and physical conditions.
6. Ability to establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with consumers.
7. Ability to work in a team setting.
8. Experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health setting is preferred.
9. Ability to facilitate medication and psycho-educational groups as needed.
10. Ability to work flexible schedule.
11. Act 33, 34 and FBI Clearances.
