Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shelter Attendant to join our team. This role is essential in providing care and support to animals in our shelter, ensuring their well-being and comfort. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, medicating and exercising pets.
- Maintain cleanliness of animal enclosures inside and outside, kennels, and common areas to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
- Assist with the handling of animals during intake, adoption events, and meet and greets.
- Interact with the public to provide information about shelter services, available animals, and adoption processes.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff or management.
- Assist in monitoring volunteers and educating them on proper animal care techniques.
- Perform heavy lifting as required for moving supplies or assisting with larger animals.
- Participate in outreach programs to promote responsible pet ownership and community engagement.
Qualifications
- Experience in animal care or related fields such as pet sitting, veterinary assistance, or kennel employment is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to handle dogs and other animals safely and compassionately.
- Physical capability to perform heavy lifting, scrubbing and stand for extended periods on low traction surfaces.
- A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being.
Requirements
- Flexibility to work AM (8 to 4) and PM shifts (4 to 8) as shelter needs arise
- Ability to get shelter in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work short periods outside in all weather conditions.
- Every other weekend and Every other holiday.

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
