Specific Duties Include But Not Limited To
- Locate for Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
- Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
- Operate Horizontal Directional Drill
- Assist in potholing and remediation
- Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie-ins
- Ability to Read and Comprehend utility locates.
- Perform heavy manual labor, able to lift 70 lbs. on occasion
- Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine.
- Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions.
- Ability to perform proper reaming and pull back methods for existing conditions.
- Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.
- Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, crew time logs etc.)
- Follows specifications for the job and company policies.
- Complies with safety procedures on and off the project site.
- Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.
- Possession of a valid Class A driver’s license – other candidates may be considered (especially CDL permit holders or Class B holders). This position is subject to the U.S. D.O.T. and Federal Highway Administration regulations relating to controlled substance and alcohol use and testing)
- Demonstrated experience in utility construction.
- Read and interpret underground construction plans and written instructions.
- Ability to think ahead and use independent judgment.
- Must live or be willing to relocate to within 35 minutes of the office.
- Clean driving record.
