Campbell Fittings is pleased to announce that we are currently recruiting a Pipe/Screw Machine Setup/Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate for this position will have prior machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment and display mechanical aptitude.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set-up and operate from one to three automatic bar machines to perform threading, serrating, grooving, forming, chamfering and cut-off operations to aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, and brass pipe, tubing, and bar stock.
- Select and prepare tooling in advance for next part to be run.
- Use chaser and surface grinders to sharpen tooling.
- Clean feed tubes, change collets, cams, gears, form tools, crimpers and/or crimp segments, spacers, centers, stamps, and perform all other steps necessary to change machines from one part to another per set-up instructions.
- Test run machines to verify proper set-up and optimize machine efficiency.
- Use overhead crane to bring raw material to machines and use dollies, pallet trucks and fork lifts to move finished parts from machines to proper storage area.
- Measure and visually inspect pipe for defects and deburr front edge before loading bar feed tubes.
- Read and interpret prints to check work using snap gages, thread ring gages, rules, micrometers, and dial calipers.
- Adjust slides, collets, and tooling and perform repairs necessary to maintain quality of work and established production rates.
- Sort finished parts and scrap from turnings at chip conveyors and place in proper containers.
- Spread turnings in chip containers to fill containers completely, move them to storage area, and bring empty containers to machines.
- Deburr parts using belt sander, drill press, files, and other hand tools if necessary.
- Keep tools and machine surfaces free of excess turnings.
- Replace form tools according to schedule or when other problems occur.
- Add cutting oil, hydraulic oil, and lubricate machines.
- Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
- Fill out quality assurance and production documents.
- Account for scrap and number of pipe lengths or bars used.
- Place scrap in proper containers.
- On a daily basis, communicate verbally with operators on previous and following shifts and use log book to inform co-workers of conditions which may affect machine operation and to record repairs and maintenance performed.
- Follow all established safety rules and procedures including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes:
- Mandatory: safety glasses, hearing protection, hard sole anti-slip shoes
- Optional: Steel-toe shoes (toe protection shoes), gloves
- Report defective materials and unusual or unsafe conditions to Production Control Manager and/or Plant Manager.
- Performs other related or additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills including active listening
- Ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently and able to ask for help when needed
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software
- Must be comfortable and efficient in working in a busy open-floor environment
- Must be comfortable working in a team environment as well as individually
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of working in a manufacturing environment required
- Forklift experience certification a plus
- 3 years of prior machine operator experience required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing entire shift
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to bend and twist throughout shift.
