What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Underwriter - Real Estate position at Ikon Search?
Ikon has partnered with a top brokerage/MGA that's looking for a Senior Underwriter to lead their Real Estate program. They're owned by a retailer that controls ~$10B in premium and places a significant portion of their business through in-house programs.
This role supports that client's internal wholesale arm that places commercial real estate business with carriers on accounts that can't be placed through standard retail channels or in-house programs.
The existing book is ~$50M and has been growing significantly YOY.
They are hybrid, spending 1 day/week in their midtown NYC office.
This is insurance underwriting, NOT COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE UNDERWRITING
Responsibilities:
- Lead underwriter on the Real Estate program
- Produce new business and develop relationships with brokers
- Underwrite different lines of coverage, primarily: Property, GL, & Excess
- Change carrier/broker partners, appetite, and overall program strategy as needed
Qualifications:
- 3 years experience underwriting Real Estate accounts is an absolute must
- Experience underwriting GL/Property/Excess
- Understanding of how wholesale/E&S insurance works
Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
