Head Tennis Coach

Overview

Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy (IMSA) is seeking an individual to fill the role of "Head Coach" for the high school boys tennis team for the upcoming Spring 2025 season. The candidate will also be offered the girls head tennis coaching position for the Fall 2025 school year.   Please note that our primary focus is to hire the right candidate for the upcoming boys tennis season and then this role can possibly be expanded for the girls tennis season for next year. Ultimately, we would prefer a candidate to coach both teams, but that will not be a requirement. Each season has independent compensation based on documented years in this field.  Experience in a high school coaching role or club setting is preferred. This is a stipend position that is based on experience in coaching and years involved in the sport. The Head Coach must be able to pass a background check, pass a CPR/AED basic life saving course and possess a valid Illinois drivers license to be able to drive any of the IMSA vehicles, which include up to a 14 passenger mini-bus. (no additional tests or endorsements are needed to operate these vehicles)  Any potential candidate must possess the skills to conduct practices with varying tennis drills & conditioning for increasing the performance of athletes, while also having the ability to manage a team that would include:

• Working with the Coordinator of Athletics & Co-Curriculars for developing a competitive season of matches
• Work with our food service staff to provide meals for the athletes when off campus.
• Attend practices & matches from the start of the high school season to potential state finals. 
• Coordinate and supervise any overnight stays needed for post season competition during the state series of competition. 
• Transport students to practices & matches during the course of the high school season.

  Any potential candidate must have or be willing to obtain either of the following requirements as per IHSA By-Laws:(1) Possess a completion certificate of an approved IHSA coaching course. (ASEP) https://coacheducation.humankinetics.com/products/ihsa-coaching-education-online-course-package-with-ebooks  OR(2) Currently, have a valid Teaching, School Administrator, Substitute Teaching, School Psychologist, School counselor, School Social Worker Certificate  or be retired from teaching to meet the IHSA By-Law for coaching.(3) Completion of all IHSA mandatory training modules as required by the IHSA along with any State of Illinois mandated training modules, as prescribed and assigned by GCN/OneNet) This position will report directly and will work under the direction of the Coordinator of Athletics at IMSA.
