What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Health Careers Director position at Indian Capital Technology Center?
- Master’s degree in area related to health careers/health occupations and/or master’s degree with experience teaching or related experience in allied health education programs.
- Preference may be given to individual with master’s degree in nursing or who qualifies to coordinate the nursing program.
- If candidate qualifies to coordinate the nursing program, the following additional criteria will be required:
- Have a baccalaureate degree in nursing, and effective January 1, 2017, has evidence of continued progress toward a graduate degree in nursing with completion of a minimum of six (6) hours per year, PROVIDED: any person employed in the position of administrator of a practical nursing education program on December 31, 2016, is deemed to meet this requirement.
- Hold a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oklahoma and Arkansas.
- have a minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting; and
- have at least one (1) academic year, full-time experience as a teacher in a nursing education program.
- Minimum as stated listed in the Oklahoma Board of Nursing Rules and Regulations.
- Provide supervision, leadership and organization for Adult Health Career programs.
- Serve as administrator and instructional leader for adult health careers education programs within the ICTC district. Oversee the management of Adult Health Career campus/department needs.
- Consult with Campus Directors and Director of Adult and Career Development (ACD) and Director of Business & Industry Services (BIS) to provide training programs in nursing and related health careers. Promote the development of a training pipeline for the health care industry and communities served by Indian Capital Technology Center that starts in high school and extends through Career Tech and post-secondary education.
- May be assigned to supervise/coordinate the nursing program if qualified. If not qualified, work with the qualified individual to meet the needs of the practical nursing program.
- Responsible for administration and supervision of nursing and full-time adult health career programs in the district, while working cooperatively with campus directors to meet needs at each site. These programs include Practical Nursing, Radiology Technology, OTA, PTA and others as may be developed in the district and/or assigned by the superintendent. Responsibilities include supervision of program components such as policy/procedures, admission processes, instruction, student promotion, retention, and completion/dismissal, program planning, curriculum and curriculum alignment, program evaluation. If not qualified to supervise the PN preprogram, work directly the individual assigned to those duties to provide support and meet the needs of the program.
- As requested, consult with ACD/BIS Director to provide quality short term health career programs that are in compliance with regulatory and accreditation bodies, and meet the needs of the communities and health care industry served by ICTC.
- Cooperatively work with Campus Directors to provide instructional leadership, and planning, for “Health Careers Certification” (HCC) programs and curriculum implementation.
- Assist in defining short-range and long-rage goals and objectives for nursing and adult health career education training programs within the ICTC district, as well as formulating plans for recommendations to the Superintendent for such programs.
- Keep informed of laws, rules, regulations and accreditation standards affecting ICTC, nursing and adult health careers education programs.
- Assist in identifying, preparing, evaluating, and disseminating pertinent information to superintendent, directors, and other district employees.
- Prepare and/or support the preparation and submission of reports and other documents required by ICTC, Oklahoma Department of Career Tech, as well as regulatory and accrediting bodies that govern nursing and adult health career education programs in the ICTC district.
- Develop &/or assist with &/or support the development of proposals for special funding of projects related to nursing and health careers programs.
- Attend and participate in meetings as required by the ICTC district.
- Conduct regular meetings with staff who are under his/her supervision.
- Work cooperatively with directors, coordinators and other staff to plan and to conduct meetings pertinent to adult health career programs in the ICTC district.
- Work cooperatively with Student Services, Instructional Services and other ICTC district departments to meet goals established by the ICTC district.
- Provide input into the advertisement and scheduling of courses and career majors.
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation, evaluation, and use of competency based instructional materials and methods to be used in nursing, and adult health career programs within the ICTC district.
- Work cooperatively with ACD & BIS Director to provide leadership in development and implementation, evaluation, and use of competency based instructional materials and methods used in ACD/ BIS training related to health careers education.
- Work cooperatively with directors and other ICTC administrative staff to monitor and assess instructional programs and instructional support services for the purpose of evaluation and planning within the ICTC district.
- Work with directors and ICTC administrative staff to implement advisory committee recommendations for nursing and adult health career programs.
- Meet with patrons and students to explain policies and procedures as appropriate.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining clinical contracts necessary to provide instructional experience for students enrolled in health career education programs at ICTC.
- Develop purchase plans, prepare, and administer the site budget for adult health careers programs.
- Establish and maintain efficient procedures and effective controls of any budget assigned to his/her supervision.
- Direct nursing and adult health career education program faculty in the development of and comply with equipment/program purchasing plans that align with short and long term instructional/program goals.
- Work cooperatively with ACD Director in developing equipment purchase plans that align with short and long term instructional/programming goals.
- Assist with the recruitment, appointment, and employment of qualified personnel for nursing and adult health career programs, while working cooperatively with the superintendent, assistant superintendent and campus directors.
- Conduct evaluation of nursing and adult health career faculty and support personnel under his/her supervision in accordance with the personnel policies and procedures of the ICTC district. If not qualified to coordinate nursing, work with the qualified individual to complete the evaluation process.
- Notify the Oklahoma Board of Nursing of changes in faculty appointments, and program changes or its administration. Reports directly to the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. If not qualified to coordinate the nursing program, work with the qualified individual to support the requirements of the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
- Support the designated program chairperson for each adult health career program in communication with their respective accrediting/approval bodies regarding appropriate program related items, including faculty and program changes as required.
- Participate in annual evaluation of his/her own performance with the Assistant Superintendent.
- Maintain a line of communication and work cooperatively with instructors, administration, and staff.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in professional and civic activities
- Maintain communication with health care and other related agencies in the communities served by ICTC.
- Establish and maintain a close working relationship with staff at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.
- Regular attendance following a designated work schedule.
- Must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.
- Must be able to attend and participate in meetings/conferences as scheduled within the district, state, and other states.
- Meetings/conferences may require overnight trips.
