SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:
Install, repair and open locks, make keys and change lock combinations. The Locksmith is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining locks, keys, and security hardware across all district facilities. This role ensures the security and safety of students, staff, and property by maintaining proper access control systems and responding to lock-related service requests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPSONSIBLITIES
- Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Installs door locks.
- Programs electronic access system.
- Changes combinations of safes.
- Opens lock using Lock Pick when keys have lost.
- Cuts new or duplicate keys from existing keys or from code.
- Rekeys locks or lock systems to accept new or master keys.
- Repairs locks by taking them apart and adjusting them.
- Orders stock, parts and tools.
- Travels to various locations.
- Repairs and maintains key machines.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of key blanks and computer experience essential.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, ETC.
Valid Indiana Driver’s License.
