Job Description:
The Front of House Supervisor is responsible for managing the front-of-house operations, including overseeing the restaurant dining area, bar, and guest experience. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to providing outstanding service. The Front of House Supervisor will work closely with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations, directly reporting to the Restaurant General Manager. Social media/ photography expertise a plus!
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate front-of-house staff, including servers, hosts, and bartenders, to ensure excellent customer service and a positive dining experience.
- Guest Experience: Ensure that every guest is greeted warmly, seated promptly, and served with professionalism. Handle guest concerns or complaints with a positive and solution-oriented approach.
- Communication: Must have excellent communication with the back-of-house (kitchen) team to ensure that orders are processed correctly, food is delivered on time, and service is coordinated.
- Operations Oversight: Oversee the flow of the dining room and bar, ensuring tables are turned efficiently and guests are satisfied. Ensure that staff is working effectively and that operations are running smoothly during service.
- Inventory and Ordering: Assist in managing inventory levels for the front-of-house, including bar stock and dining room supplies, ensuring items are restocked as needed.
- Scheduling: Assist with creating and managing staff schedules, ensuring proper coverage during peak hours, nights, weekends, and special events.
- Compliance: Ensure that all health, safety, and alcohol regulations are followed. Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the front-of-house areas.
- Financial Management: Help manage labor costs by ensuring staff are appropriately scheduled to meet demand, keeping expenses within budgetary guidelines. Responsible for bar costs and overseeing inventory and ordering to meet monthly budget.
- Reporting: Report directly to the Restaurant General Manager regarding staff performance, guest feedback, and operational needs.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Front of House Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, or similar role in an upscale or high-volume dining environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and interact with both front-of-house and back-of-house staff.
- Strong leadership abilities with a focus on training and motivating teams to achieve the highest service standards.
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required, including peak dining times.
- Ability to handle guest concerns professionally and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Knowledge of food safety and health regulations, as well as alcohol laws.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and ensure smooth daily operations.
Miscellaneous responsibilities include: pre and post shift cleanliness of bar and restaurant, restrooms, overseeing plants and overall aesthetic of restaurant and bar. Photography and social media expertise a plus.
