Job Title: Design Manager
Location: Hybrid in Chicago, IL (3 days/week on site at the Willis Tower)
Duration: 6 month contract to permanent hire
Salary: $100-115k equivalent
(During contract duration, will be hourly pay rate and weekly pay every Friday)

Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Interior Design and/or Architecture
- 5 years of relevant experience within interior design
- 2 years at an airport
- Experience in facility design, space planning and programming, development of standards, and documentation
- Proficiency in creating and delivering design presentations, with strong collaboration, problem solving, and clear communication skills
- Knowledge of construction codes and accessibility regulations
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Suite
Pluses:
- NCIDQ certification preferred
Job Description:
- Develop and implement space planning, programming, and utilization space calculations for United-owned or managed facilities across its network.
- Collaborate with internal and external consultants to develop strategically focused design plans for various project types, including enhancements to operational support areas, public-facing spaces, and the implementation of new initiatives.
- Review and provide feedback on architectural and engineering plans submitted by external designers and consultants to ensure alignment with project requirements, industry standards, and design intent.
- Collaborate with United’s Corporate Real Estate project managers to develop and deliver conceptual design plans and supporting documentation for executive and financial review and approval.
- Lead the development and improvement of United Space Guidelines in collaboration with the design team, including FF&E, material selection and application, and furniture layout.
- Provide design expertise for new and evolving initiatives to enhance United’s built environments.
- Lead external design professionals contracted by United and act as a liaison between design teams and United stakeholders.
- Effectively manage time and workload, prioritizing tasks based on leadership guidance.
Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
