JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title : Career Services Advisor
Reports To : Director of Career Services
FLSA : Non-Exempt
DEFINITION :
The Career Services Advisor works with students to support, coach and serve as a resource to identify and obtain positions in their field of study. Focus will be made on career development of students and graduates, while simultaneously working to establish and maintain relationships with area employers. The Career Service Advisor will match employment opportunities to graduates and assist them through the interview and job offer process. The Career Service Advisor will present workshops and individual coaching on career search strategies, cover letter and resume building, professionalism and soft skills in addition to other career development topics. Will work to build relationships within the employer community to secure job placement opportunities for graduates actively pursuing job searches that will secure positions that will match to the graduates’ skills and training. The Career Service Advisor maintains placement records and provides reports to accrediting agencies and college administration staff. The Career Services Advisor is responsible for assisting students to prepare for the workforce in their chosen field of study.
SAMPLE OF DUTIES :
Work with students and employers to meet employment metrics; perform activities that result in required outcomes to meet accrediting benchmarks.
Conduct daily phone and in-field marketing calls to employers to develop job leads for students to foster strong student and employer relationships.
Participate in community committees and networking events with employers to market the school and graduates.
Drive job orders to assist students to obtain positions in their chosen fields of study.
Achieve weekly, monthly and annual statistical placement goals and expectations to meet and exceed accreditation benchmarks.
Conduct exit goal setting interviews with upcoming graduates : completing mock interviews, and ensuring cover letters and resumes are job-search ready in an effort to make our graduates both interview and career ready.
Conduct individual professional development meetings and workshops to provide job search tools, mentoring, and coaching to our students and graduates.
Provide instruction on job seeking skills in the classroom and during student seminars.
Assist in setting up interviews and post-interview follow up with potential employers and students.
Provide administrative placement information documentation and report generation.
Assist with the development of Program / Curriculum Advisory Board members.
Assist with identifying and confirming guest speakers for various campus events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 2 years prior sales, marketing, customer service or related experience.
Experience in a staffing, job development, career counseling or in vocational school placement is preferred.
Valid Driver’s License.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Typically work inside and protected from weather.
Some area travel to meet with employers to perform marketing activities.
Work effectively in a demanding environment and with a sense of urgency.
Work collaboratively in a team environment
Work with sensitive and confidential information.
Noise exposure under 65 decibels, roughly that of a normal conversation or ringing telephone.
Typical work schedule is nine hours per day, 4 days per week and four hours on Fridays
Schedule changes may occur based on business needs.
