ECMO SPECIALIST
2 years experience minimum
The ECMO Specialist is responsible to provide prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to persons whose heart and lungs are unable to provide an adequate amount of gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life.
ACLS, BLS Required
Provide ECMO Support in all 3 critical care units (NICU, PICU, CICU). Patients are placed on ECMO for respiratory and or heart failure for support until recovery or as a bridge to lung/heart transplant
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients in various settings, including clinics and Level II Trauma Centers. This role requires a strong understanding of respiratory therapy techniques, patient assessment, and the ability to work effectively in both inpatient and critical care environments.
Responsibilities
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures as prescribed by physicians.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine the appropriate course of treatment.
- Monitor patients' responses to therapy and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients, particularly in geriatric care.
- Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring safety and efficacy.
- Educate patients and their families about respiratory conditions and treatment options.
- Participate in emergency response situations, providing critical care support as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Skills
- Proficient in respiratory therapy techniques, including ventilatory support.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy related to the respiratory system.
- Experience working with geriatric patients is preferred.
- Ability to perform patient assessments effectively in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Familiarity with critical care protocols and procedures.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
