Lead Process Engineer

Job Description

At IPS, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people by solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. We are looking for a dedicated Lead Process Engineer to join our growng Process Department at our office located in our brand-new office located in Leawood, KS.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes and supporting utilities on a scale that can range from developmental pilot plants to full commercial production.

Position Responsibilities

• Produces conceptual design deliverables such as Process Flow Diagrams and Material and Energy Balances.
• Estimates utility requirements for new manufacturing processes, design utilities generation, and distribution systems.
• Generates Process P&IDs (preferably on AutoCAD) that include controls strategy and CIP/SIP functions, if appropriate.
• Generates P&IDs for critical utility systems, such as WFI, USP Purified water, and Clean Steam.
• Performs engineering studies for expanding, improving, or automating existing facilities with limited supervision.
• Produces specifications and performance data sheets for process equipment and instrumentation.
• Makes use of and participates in the development of company design and production tools, including process simulation and smart P&IDs.
• Assumes ownership of the process-related aspects of a portion of a large project or an entire small project, and provides technical support to the design team.
• Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with clients and members of the IPS design team.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 10 years of engineering experience and 5 years in process design, preferably in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Knowledge of cGMPs as they affect process design and equipment specification.
  
  

Travel based on the project location. This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
