POSITION SUMMARY
:The Technical Service Manager is responsible for the overall success and management of the JBG SMITH Property Services operating unit. This role involves planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling service activities to achieve revenue goals and objectives while maintaining a strong customer focus, enhancing the brand, and driving employee engagement.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
:- Oversee the Property Service unit to ensure adherence to budget and schedule in alignment with the defined scope of work.
- Coordinate, schedule, and manage work orders while supervising the daily activities of service technicians.
- Manage the procurement of all parts, equipment, and materials necessary for operations.
- Conduct job site visits and perform quality control inspections to maintain service standards.
- Oversee all aspects of quoting, proposal writing, service agreement management, and general correspondence.
- Attract, train, develop, and retain talent to foster business growth and create a positive work environment.
- Analyze financial statements and profit and loss reports for the business unit, taking decisive actions to meet and exceed performance goals.
- Plan, set, and achieve revenue and profit targets by adjusting strategies to optimize performance.
- Implement occupational safety and health program initiatives and standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- Track service requests, cancellations, service provider information, store details, and updates to ensure efficient operations.
- Provide sales support and develop/manage the unit budget to align with financial objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and service providers to foster collaboration and satisfaction.
- Sell new services to existing clients and arrange client meetings to explore additional opportunities.
- Perform additional duties and complete special projects as assigned, executing tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
- As essential personnel, this position may require work beyond regular business hours, including weekends and holidays, on a scheduled, short-notice, or emergency basis.
- Operate under the general supervision of the Senior Vice President/Director of Engineering or other designated authority.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED (REQUIREMENTS)
:- High school diploma or GED; valid Driver's License required.
- Certification as a CFC Universal Technician from a U.S. EPA-approved program required; Journeyman HVAC License or similar trade licensure preferred.
- Minimum five years in facility operations, maintenance, or repair management, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
- At least seven years of specialized experience in mechanical operations, particularly with boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems in large facilities.
- Experience managing operations and service history with a computerized maintenance management system.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems using appropriate tools.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and OSHA regulations; OSHA 30 training preferred.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reports and documentation; general PC and mobile device skills.
- Strong analytical skills for data collection and evaluation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; ability to perform complex arithmetic calculations.
